Born in a 1944 in a tiny village in the sleepy hamlet of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, Shri Swamy had his Fine Arts training from his father, Shri V. Venkateswarlu, an eminent Artist. He has passed Higher Grade in Free Hand Out line, Model Drawing, Painting, and Interior decoration. Shri Swamy has settled in Hyderabad for the last four decades.
With over 2,100 paintings in water/oil colour both in traditional and modern styles to his credit, Shri Swamy organized 20 one man shows on the themes of “Village”, “Rocks”, “Electrical Power”, “Nehru and his Vision”, “Hyderabad-400 years”, “Man and Nature” and “50 Years of Indian Independence” “Ganesha” in various parts of the Country and also participated in a number of group shows. His works are under collection in New Dilhi, USA, USSR, West Germany, UK, (and many other Indian and foreign dignitaries, private collections.)
Developed a unique craft of Egg-Shell engraving. Shri Swamy’s works received commendation in the field of Fine Arts from eminent personalities like S/Shri R. Venkataraman, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lalbahadur Sastry, Fakruddin Ali Ahmed, Dr. Gustav Husaq, Breznev, V.V. Giri, Edward Heath, Dr. S. Radhakrishan, Dr. Zakir Hussain etc., The list goes on… He has also received a number of awards in the field of Fine Arts and was honoured by the Andhra Association and Andhra Educational Society, New Delhi in 1982. He was also honoured by Smt. G.T. Tumen Bava, External Affairs Minister of Kirgia, USSR, and His Excellency Rebort Arbuthnott, Minister for Cultural Affairs, British High Commission, British Council Division. For his outstanding contribution in the field of Fine Arts, Shri V. V. Swamy was honoured with the ‘Ugadi Puraskar 1998’ by the Delhi Telugu Academy, which was presented to him by the Vice President of India. Sri Swamy’s name was recorded in the Limca Book of Records in 1993 edition.
Author of several research papers, articles and literary works, Public Relations and Fine Arts, Shri Swamy’s books – “Poetic Biography of Hyderabad” and “My Inner Vision” were acclaimed by one and all in the literary circles. Shri Swamy received the Honorary Doctorate of Literary for his English Poetry Book – “For Hyderabad” at the World Congress of Poets held at Sydney, Australia during 2001. He has also received the National Award for his publication “Velugu Baata” in 1986 and the Andhra Pradesh State Government Award for his publication entitled “Parisaralu-Parirakshana” in 1991. Shri Swamy won a prize from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for his poetry in a nation-wide contest. Shri Swamy was honoured by several leading Cultural Organizations.
